I Remember

I think of you and remember,

The warmth of your touch,

The light in your smile,

The way your eyes sparkled in the sun,

The waves in your hair,

I remember the outfit you wore when I asked you out,

I remember the laughs we had,

The memories we made,

The way we were each other's first kiss,

I remember fishing by the river,

Rollerblading around to the park near your house,

The way you laughed when I fell down,

I remember everything we did and everything we said,

I remember the feeling when we broke up,

I cried for hours but hid it from the world,

I lied to myself that I would be okay,

I wrote my first poem that day,

I wrote about pushing you away,

I remember trying to talk to you after,

But I had messed up,

I ruined it for us,

It was my fault,

The following weeks I would leave,

And try to forget that day,

I've messed up most my life,

And I want to apologize to you,

But I don't know how,

I wish I could bring you back into my life,

But feel that you would not want the same,

You've built a new life,

And I'm happy for that,

I wanted to talk to you today,

But you’ve made it clear,

I won't drive the conversation,

Or force you to do anything else,

I remember that that pushed you away,

So now on this day,

I hope and pray,

That I can let you go,

That this curse may lifted,

And that one day,

I won't remember,
